Hashtag is a type of Metadata which is generated by adding a pound sign (#) in front of a word/phrase without out spaces. For example #Blogger, #GoodMorning, #Mythoughts, etc. It is also denoted as a label for the content. People use hashtags to help others to find the content of the same topic.
Hashtags are popularised by the microblogging site – Twitter. Now you can use them on social media platforms like Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, and YouTube. Most of them use the hashtags to present their opinion/feelings on the present topic.
For example, on Twitter, we can see a few topics get trended in a day. People will try to share their viewpoints on a particular topic by using that trending hashtag.
Similarly in Instagram, people share their images on the platform using hashtags.
